As an F1 Press Officer you will play a pivotal role in shaping the FIA’s public perception and ensuring effective media relations in Formula 1. By assisting in the daily tasks of the team in press relations, coordinating media events and supporting the F1 accreditation process, you will contribute to the FIA’s credibility and global influence as the governing body of motorsport. This role requires important interpersonal skills, diplomacy, and seamless coordination at the pinnacle of motorsport. As an F1 Press officer, you will report directly to the F1 Communications Manager.
MISSIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Media Relations:
- Act as a liaison between media and the FIA F1 Sporting and Technical Team
- Manage and track media requests, both on-site and remotely
- Coordinate media availability throughout F1 events
- Identify and proactively pitch story ideas to a varied style of media, including lifestyle and general news outlets, to broaden exposure of FIA activities beyond traditional motorsport landscape.
- Assist race promoters in the production of media guides
- Monitor relevant FIA news, trends and changes in the media landscape, including social media monitoring
- Support the FIA Single Seater department with regulatory and sporting communications regarding F1 and junior formula
Communications:
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders and media representatives from lifestyle, traditional, and sports media.
- Monitor and analyse media coverage across all platforms (print, online, broadcast, newswires, social media)
- Research, draft and distribute press releases, briefings and official statements to targeted media
- Organise and oversee media opportunities for FIA representatives
- Ensure timely updates and management of key content on FIA channels (website, mailchimp, social media)
- Produce post-event reports and feedback to local event organisers
Suport Media Accreditation and Onsite operations:
- Support media accreditation and on-site operations for the FIA Formula One World Championship.
- Support national press officers in accrediting local media
- Organise Media Centre operations and ensure smooth execution of media activities during Grand Prix weekends
- Assist in managing official F1 press conferences and official interview activities
Digital:
- Collaborate with the internal digital team to develop engaging content and storytelling for FIA platforms
- Contribute to social content gathering when attending events
- Leverage IT and social media analytics to adapt content strategies to evolving trends
PROFILE:
- Between 2 and 5 years of experience in a similar role in sports or within a press relations agency.
- Strong knowledge of the media landscape and an established network of contacts in lifestyle and general news media.
- First experience in an international, fast-paced, and sports environment
- A university degree in communication, journalism or a related field is a strong asset
- Near-native English proficiency and strong ability to write press releases, news articles and social media posts
- Additional European languages (Italian, Spanish, German or Dutch) are a strong advantage, in order to build strong media relations
- Strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships with media, colleagues, and stakeholders
- Excellent organizational and time management skills to manage multiple projects efficiently
- Resilience, flexibility, and problem-solving skills to navigate fast-moving situations
Willingness to travel: Minimum 8 events per year, each event requiring 6 days of travel
