Company description
The Organising Committee for the French Alps 2030 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games is responsible for the organisation of the Olympic Games (from 1 to 17 February 2030) and the Paralympic Games (from 1 to 10 March 2030).
The project envisions the competitions being organized across 4 hubs located respectively:
- In Nice in the Alpes Maritimes (ice sports);
- In the Briançonnais region in the Hautes Alpes (acrobatic skiing and snowboarding);
- In the Tarentaise valley in Savoie (alpine skiing, bobsleigh/sled/skeleton, Nordic combined);
- And in the Aravis mountain range in Haute Savoie (biathlon and cross-country skiing).
The French Alps 2030 Organising Committee will notably be responsible for planning, financing and delivering the Games and associated events, promoting them in France and internationally, and carrying out actions to promote and develop sport and the Olympic and Paralympic movement in France and internationally, in connection with the national sports movement.
With the aim of building cohesive, high-performing and committed teams, the Committee is looking for talented individuals, and in particular its Snow Sports Manager (M/F)
Job
Within the Sports Department, the Sports Competitions division is in charge of relations with all stakeholders in the international sports movement (IOC, IPC, international federations).
It contributes to the delivery of sporting competitions during the 2030 Alpine Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The cluster's objectives are to:
- Delivering all Olympic and Paralympic sporting events by 2030
- To operationally manage relations with all International Olympic and Paralympic Federations and other international sports stakeholders
- Participate in the design and deployment of the competition delivery system
- Establish a monitoring and information system for the International Olympic and Paralympic Federations regarding the deliverables of the various stakeholders in the delivery of sporting competitions.
The position of Snow Sports Manager will be integrated into the Sports Competitions Department.
Main duties and responsibilities
Reporting to the Director of Sports, the Snow Sports Manager will be responsible to:
- To contribute to the coordination of Olympic and Paralympic snow sports for which he will be responsible
- The delivery of the following projects, essential for the successful delivery of the sporting competitions of the 2030 French Alps Olympic and Paralympic Games, including:
- To propose a suitable organizational structure, a delivery model, and optimal staffing levels to manage the delivery and sports operations of the site and the smooth running of the competition. He/she will be responsible for the training and management of his/her staff.
- Manage a team of Sport Managers, each responsible for the operational delivery of the sporting competition in their sport/discipline and for the relationship with the International Federation and all other international sporting stakeholders.
- Communicate regularly with the International Federations, the IOC or the IPC on all matters concerning the planning and delivery of competitions for the sports under their responsibility.
- Oversee the proper coordination of technical aspects related to the delivery of snow sports competitions during the 2030 French Alps Olympic and Paralympic Games and the implementation of the technical regulations of each International Federation.
- Monitor the budget for the delivery of sporting competitions for the sports under his/her responsibility and the management of potential contractors involved in the delivery of sporting competitions for the French Alps 2030
- Working closely with the Sports Presentation, Anti-doping and Sports Operations units within the Sports Department to deliver an innovative, fair and world-class sporting experience, in line with the French Alps 2030 vision for competitions
- To liaise with the other departments of the French Alps 2030 to guarantee the proper delivery of support services (sites and infrastructure, gaming services, TV broadcast, technologies, etc.)
- Monitor all projects with the Director of Sports, and prepare reports and presentations on the various topics under their responsibility.
- Assist the Director of Sports in the department's strategic and innovation planning.
Profile
This position requires initiative and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. The scope of the role demands strong practical skills, diplomacy, and the ability to work under pressure.
The ideal candidate will be action-oriented. He/she will have the ability to deal with multiple stakeholders from different backgrounds and may be required to represent the French Alps 2030 at meetings or events, as well as speak in public during presentations to international federations or other stakeholders, in connection with the promotion of the project.
This position also requires proven experience in delivering sporting competitions as well as technical knowledge of several sports.
Training/Qualifications
- A minimum of a Master's degree (Bac+5) with at least 10 years of professional experience in the planning and delivery of snow sports events in France or internationally. Experience with the Olympic and Paralympic Games is a plus.
- Excellent understanding of the rules and procedures necessary for the delivery of a snow sporting event.
- Excellent knowledge of international federations and the workings of the sporting world as a whole.
- Good understanding of the issues at stake in the Olympic and Paralympic movement.
- Alignment with the values of sport
