Your Mission
The Safeguarding Manager ensures that gymnastics is practiced in a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment worldwide. Acting as the International Gymnastics Federation’s single and visible reference point for safeguarding, this role carries a strategic mandate of prevention, awareness, and governance. Based at the Federation’s headquarters in Lausanne, the Safeguarding Manager drives the development and implementation of safeguarding policies as well as education and awareness programmes. Complementary responsibilities include gender equality and good governance, and compliance initiatives.
Your Responsibilities
Safeguarding
• Serve as FIG’s central focal point for safeguarding activities and initiatives.
• Design, update and disseminate safeguarding policies, frameworks and tools.
• Lead training and awareness initiatives (online courses, webinars, campaigns).
• Coordinate and monitor safeguarding protocols during international events, providing guidance and oversight to Safeguarding Officers appointed by the Local Organising Committees.
• Monitor compliance with safeguarding standards and report to the relevant governance bodies.
• Manage the Safeguarding Commission and align its work with FIG’s governance framework.
• Represent occasionally FIG on safeguarding topics with international stakeholders (IOC, national federations, universities, and partners), ensuring visibility through selected key forums.
Gender Equality & Inclusion
• Promote and coordinate initiatives to advance gender equality and combat discrimination.
• Integrate equality and inclusion principles into safeguarding programmes and governance.
Good Governance & Education
• Contribute to transversal good governance and compliance projects.
• Support targeted educational initiatives aligned with athlete protection.
About You
• University degree in Sports Science, Psychology, Sociology, Law or related field.
• At least 5 years’ experience in safeguarding, athlete welfare or integrity roles.
• Strong knowledge of Safe Sport principles and international safeguarding frameworks.
• Proven experience in international or federated sports environments.
• Excellent project management, intercultural communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• High degree of personal integrity and credibility.
• Fluency in English and French (other languages are an asset).
• Valid Swiss working permit.
