Role Overview 

As a core part of the Global Sports Leadership Team, you will be responsible for leading the growth and development of our current sales function.

This role will play an integral part in us achieving our ambitious plans to expand Global Sports further across the UK and internationally.

The primary focus will be to drive sales across existing products and channels, both as an individual and through the Sales team, whilst also exploring new ideas, products and services for our market.

The Sales team are also responsible for customer success, understanding how we can provide greater value and providing excellent customer service.


What we are looking for

We are looking for someone who is excited to develop and grow our global commercial opportunities.

You and your team will be accountable for developing new business and account managing existing customers.

This role will suit an accomplished strategic thinker, who can take a step back and see the big picture, as well as inspire, lead and develop a high performing Sales team.


Key Accountabilities 

  • Create and deliver a Commercial strategic plan to achieve the overall business objectives in line with the Senior Leadership team
  • Lead, manage and develop a high performing Sales team to deliver the agreed commercial revenue of the business
  • Set and manage individual sales targets for the Sales team
  • Improve the customer retention rate across all Global Sports customers and markets
  • Ensure the resources and tools are in place to deliver quality and value as a Sales team, utilising the appropriate technology and digital tools
  • Embed a data centric approach within the Sales team and wider business, effectively utilising our CRM system (Hubspot)
  • Develop and implement customer service policies and procedures
  • Provide regular market insight and customer focused problems back into the business so the business can refine existing products and develop new ones
  • Identify new opportunities with customers to deepen our relationships and add value across all our products and services
  • Work closely with the Marketing team to deliver compelling and effectively campaigns and sales assets
  • Work with the heads of business units to ensure we are aligned on selling the best products and services that we can deliver for clients
  • Provide feedback to Teams regarding customer experience and opportunities for improvements
  • Review and implement training programmes and processes to make sure the Sales team are effective in selling the right way in line with our values
  • Ensure any future recruitment for the Sales team is in line with our mission, purpose and values
  • Review and manage team performance to support, challenge and develop in line with their career aspirations


Key Experience and Skills  

  • Demonstrable experience of designing and delivering a commercial strategy
  • Strong personal sales skills with proven track record of success
  • Experience of leading, managing and developing a Sales team
  • Preferably experience of commercial success within digital, media or the HR services industry
  • Experience of cultivating and enhancing strong relationships with people (colleagues, clients and customers)
  • Demonstrable experience of retaining and growing revenue through providing successful ROI to clients
  • Experience with digital CRM tools and approaches to manage, improve and optimise customer management processes
