About You

We have an exciting opportunity for a Sports Marketing Business Communications Leader, located in Midland, MI! Dow’s business communicators are strategic marketing communications practitioners with deep content and channel expertise who develop and implement programs that engage current and potential customers and other relevant stakeholder audiences.

In this role, you will lead all activation of key sports marketing assets efforts for the company globally, serving as the primary liaise between Dow and key governing bodies, and is uniquely focused on aligning commercial opportunities to drive business demand generation.

You will lead plan development with senior business marketing partners for regional and global market areas and helps position and promote Dow products and services in support of business growth strategies and priorities.

You will remain heavily focused on external product leadership and implementation across channels – media, social, digital and traditional, and provides strategic counsel and executive communications support (external and internal) for business and/or corporate leaders and executives.

Importantly, you will serve as the Executive Director of the Dow Great Lakes Bay Invitational (Dow GLBI), which made its debut in 2019 in Midland, MI, as the first official team competition in LPGA Tour history and recently announced an extension of the agreement through 2029.

 

Your responsibilities include:

  • Drive effective activation of Dow’s key sports marketing assets.
  • In collaboration with internal and/or external partners, execute events (customers, community leaders, employees, etc.) to the highest standards of quality and exceptional customer/employee experience.
  • Partner with businesses to determine most effective and strategic activation locations.
  • Support and counsel senior leaders in positioning and communicating Sports Marketing initiatives, issues and thought leadership both externally and internally. Connect business needs and opportunities with other businesses and functions globally or regionally to advance and protect the Dow brand and track explicit ROI on our sports asset activations through leads generated flowing through into sales.
  • Engage as a contributing member of the Business Communications leadership team.
  • Direct and execute Sports Marketing strategy, ensuring alignment of existing sports assets to business plans and priorities while directing internal and external partners as appropriate. Work with Businesses to identify the right sports assets to deliver on our corporate goals.
  • Develop, manage and deliver content that engages target audiences. This includes message development, writing and storytelling, video production and graphic design instruction. Organize updates, routing, proofreading and production/delivery of projects.
  • Has responsibility for budget and resource management/billing, including leading supplier selection, work and relationships.
  • Support corporate brand and reputation through new product/capability brand development, thought leadership and reputation, and co-branding strategy support.
  • Own overall Sports Marketing measurement, feeding findings and recommendations back to communications and market planning. Analyze program trends and counsel marketing leaders on best practices, channel selection and other strategic insight.
  • Communicate and collaborate regularly with local and global teams to ensure alignment with global marketing and marketing communications priorities and to leverage and share communications materials and best practices. Also collaborate with broader Global Public Affairs function to align and connect dots across corporate, regional and business priorities.
  • Serve as Executive Director of the Dow Great Lakes Bay Invitational (Dow GLBI).

 

Your knowledge, skills & abilities include:

  • Ability to work with a variety of cultures, functions and businesses, along with the skills to manage multiple projects, perspectives and clients simultaneously, prioritizing a diverse range of projects and meeting tight deadlines.
  • A clear understanding of digital communications and content marketing, along with excellent writing, editing and organizational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, networking, problem-solving, negotiation and leadership skills.
  • Commitment to building a healthy, happy, high-performing team – embracing inclusion and diversity, outside-in thinking, creativity, value-add mentality, personal development, confidence in capabilities and clarity in priorities and expectations.

 

Required Qualifications:

    • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or relevant military experience at a U.S. E6 rank or Canadian Petty Officer 2nd Class or higher.
    • A minimum of 10 years of experience in marketing, sports marketing, commercial, business communications and/or related communications disciplines.
    • A minimum requirement for this US-based position is the ability to work legally in the United States.  No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in prior Sports Marketing, marketing and/or commercial role(s).
  • Experience in a PR agency and/or multinational environment, preferably a B-to-B industry.
  • A degree discipline in a Communications related discipline.

Note: Domestics relocation assistance is avaiable for this position and may be provided based on eligibility.
