Job Description

The Head of Hospitality will create the Hospitality and Event strategy for the business. With the growth in commercial success, expanding stakeholders and future changes to the Team brand; Mercedes F1 needs to redefine its Hospitality and Events platform and experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and lead the Hospitality and Events long-term strategy, dovetailing with the overall Mercedes F1 business and marketing strategy and ambitions, successfully translating the proposition into a workable plan
  • Autonomous management of the Hospitality and Events function, lead Hospitality and Events Team, recruiting the best-in-class Hospitality personnel
  • Create, develop, and lead our trackside hospitality programme across Paddock and Paddock Club
  • Further enhance our current brand and guest experience, expanding our current trackside hospitality programmes, including tiering our offering, including secondary hospitality concepts
  • Commercialise the hospitality offering, including divergence into fan and customer offerings
  • Responsible for the Hospitality and Events budget, including decision making on capital investment and expenditure
  • Working with the Brand Design and Marketing Operations Teams, ensuring all hospitality spaces are delivered to the Mercedes F1 brand standards and work side by side on larger scale projects such as Miami and Vegas races
  • Deliver external events for the team, including CEO events, Thought Leadership and partnership events
  • Deliver internal events for the team working in conjunction with the Internal Communications team
  • Lead all headquarter based hospitality and events, be part of the project team to design a Mercedes F1 Experience and Heritage Centre, offering best in class hospitality and events
  • Work with the Partnerships team to ensure fulfilment of hospitality assets and rights
  • Continually monitor and measure the success of Mercedes F1 hospitality and events platform, looking for ways to continually improve and innovate
  • Work closely with the Sustainability team to further push hospitality and events to adopt sustainable concepts and initiatives
  • Monitor competitor and industry trends to report on future growth opportunities to ensure consistent development of hospitality, events, and guest experiences so they remain at standard setting level across world sport
  • In conjunction with the Marketing Operations team manage all key suppliers directly related to Hospitality and Events, including but not limited to Verbal F1 (race and factory hosts), Evolution (suite production) and Do&Co (trackside catering)
  • Hold relationship with F1 and local race promotors to ensure Mercedes F1 receive the best commercial hospitality opportunities across the race calendar


Candidate Profile:

The successful candidate will have extensive experience of working in a sports hospitality and event environment at management level and have relevant business and hospitality related skills and qualifications.

The preferred candidate will be a commercially minded leader with significant experience of working with C-suite level stakeholders.

A highly creative, visionary approach is required, with an ability to lead transformational change.

You will thrive on working in a fast-paced, busy environment, possess excellent communication skills and have high levels of drive to be able to make decisions and lead within a pressurised environment.

The candidate will bring personality and warmth to the role and be highly motivated to deliver exceptional brand and guest experiences. In addition, the candidate will have first-class organisational and time management skills with a sound attention to detail.

Flexibility in hours and approach is required, along with the ability to work under minimum supervision with a "can do" team attitude. The role will be hybrid working with some travel to races and events as required.
