Our team is defining the strategy and owning delivery for brand sponsorships globally. With a growing portfolio of exclusive Live Sports broadcast agreements around the world such as The English Premier League in the UK or TNF in the US, Amazon Prime Video is redefining the future of Live Sports for our Prime customers, and advertising sponsorships are key to growing future Sports selection. We are a fast growing team partnering with many internal stakeholders within Ads, Prime Video, and Twitch to build innovative sponsorship experiences that can scale beyond one off events, include unique to brand elements, and drive long term value for Amazon, our advertisers, and leagues.

The principal Business Development leader (Head of Live Sports) will define, create, and bring to market new brand sponsorship placements that allow Advertisers to connect with sports fans in-stream and across the amazon ecosystem in unique ways.

The ideal candidate will have experience engaging executives in partner organizations to drive mutually beneficial deals that require a proven track record of successful negotiations, and a technical aptitude to drive investment discussions with partners.

The candidate will play a primary role in the creation of a partnership strategy, planning, and management of the newly formed Live Sports program, starting with EU this year, prior to expanding globally.

 

Key job responsibilities

  • Serve as a key member of the WW Brand Sponsorship team to drive our partnership strategy with internal teams providing Sports content (Prime Video, Twitch)
  • Create new monetization strategies and business models for Sports sponsorships by collaborating across Amazon business units, Amazon Ads teams (Product/Marketing/Finance/Legal/Services etc.), and leadership.
  • Execute strategic plans with partners by negotiating agreements, and managing ongoing relationships.
  • Manage both executive and working level relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Lead cross-functional teams at Amazon across Product, Go-To-Market, Product, Tech, Legal, Finance, and senior management to execute on partnership vision.
  • Prepare and lead business reviews with senior management regarding goal progress and roadblocks

 

About The Team

The WW Sponsorships team within Amazon Ads partners with teams across Amazon to create high visibility and impactful opportunities for advertisers. The Brand Sponsorships team specifically focuses on creating and scaling brand advertising opportunities aligned to consumers passion points across industries where Amazon has a large footprint, unique content, and highly engaged audiences.

 

Basic Qualifications

Key job responsibilities
  • Working familiarity with advertising and ad serving
  • Experience within the sports broadcast/ OTT industry or sponsorship. /Experience as a media buyer at a media agency, platform or brand.
  • Ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders
  • Proven ability to handle multiple priorities globally
  • Proven independent decision making skills within an ambiguous environment
  • Demonstrated experience defining sponsorships program vision and roadmap, and delivering results toward stated vision
  • Create net new monetization strategies and business models for Sports sponsorships by collaborating across Amazon business units (Prime Video, Twitch), Amazon Ads teams (Product/Marketing/Finance/GTM/Legal etc.), and leadership.
  • Execute strategic plans with partners by negotiating agreements, and managing ongoing relationships.
  • Lead cross-functional teams at Amazon across Product, Go-To-Market, Product, Tech, Legal, Finance, and senior management to execute on program vision.
  • Prepare and lead business reviews with senior management regarding goal progress and roadblocks
  • Ability to think quantitatively and qualitatively
  • Ability to think both strategically and tactically

 

Preferred Qualifications
  • 7+ years of post-degree business development experience in one or more of the following areas: Digital Media and Ad tech, Live sports, eCommerce, and/or high-tech industries
  • Demonstrated competence in working independently to structure, negotiate, and close partnerships and agreements
  • Exceptional ability to communicate with and influence both technical and non-technical audience
  • Demonstrated high judgement and willingness to roll up sleeves to do what is necessary to meet team goals
