Join the FIA African Council of Touring and Automobile Clubs (ACTA) ecosystem and play a key role in saving lives across the Africa Region. As the ACTA (Region I) Coordinator, you will be the operational engine behind the FIA “Safe Mobility for All & for Life” (SM4A4L) Initiative, ensuring we deliver on our commitment to safer roads through education and advocacy.

You will have a central role in coordinating and facilitating the three main pillars of the initiative: Training, Action, and Community of Practice. Working under the direct supervision of the FIA Director for Road Safety and Advocacy and UNITAR Head of Transport and Mobility, you will bridge the gap between global strategy and local implementation, ensuring seamless collaboration between the FIA, the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), and regional stakeholders. Your expertise will be critical in empowering FIA Members and Government Authorities to implement life-saving projects.

MISSIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

PROJECT LEADERSHIP & STAKEHOLDER MANAGEMENT

• Orchestrate the effective implementation of the SM4A4L objectives across FIA ACTA (Region I).
• Coordinate relations and act as the primary liaison between key partners: FIA, FIA ACTA (Region I), UNITAR, and the CIFAL Global Network.
• Drive continuous dialogue with initiative participants, including FIA Clubs and Government Authorities, ensuring active engagement.
• Proactively manage deliverables, developing necessary guidelines, logistics, and follow-up processes to ensure alignment with the Theory of Change framework.

TRAINING & CAPACITY BUILDING

• Collaborate with the content team to support the elaboration and publication of high-quality training resources.
• Monitor and promote the digital learning platform, ensuring participants are aware of new content and developments.
• Enhance the user experience by coordinating the resolution of participants queries and fostering a supportive learning environment.
• Drive continuous improvement by elaborating, distributing, and analyzing Satisfaction Reports and Surveys to refine the training component.

MENTORING & LOCAL PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION

• Coordinate the Mentorship Programme, facilitating a productive relationship between Mentors and Participants.
• Monitor compliance with project schedules and milestones to ensure the effective implementation of selected local projects.
• Participate actively in mentoring sessions and the project selection process.
• Provide strategic support and advice to local project proposals, guiding them from concept to execution.

COMMUNITY OF PRACTICE & NETWORKING

• Dynamise the Community of Practice, fostering networking and knowledge exchange among participants.
• Manage logistics for face-to-face meetings, ensuring high attendance and seamless organisation.
• Coordinate preparatory materials to maximize the impact of in-person gatherings.

PROFILE

• University degree in Project Management, International Relations, Public Policy, Road Safety, or a related field.
• Proven experience (at least 3-5 years) in project management and coordination, preferably within international organizations or NGOs, in the areas of Mobility and/or Road Safety.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage logistics, schedules, and deliverables for complex multi-stakeholder initiatives.
• Excellent communication skills, capable of maintaining dialogue with diverse stakeholders (Governments, Clubs, International Agencies).
• Digital literacy, with experience in monitoring digital platforms or e-learning environments.
• Regional knowledge: Experience working in or with the Africa region is essential.
• Fluency in English is required.

CONDITIONS & APPLICATION

• Location: This position is held remotely, but the incumbent must be based in Africa.
• Contract: The incumbent will be hired by the UNITAR for a temporary mission of 12 months.
• Exclusivity: This role is intended to be equivalent to 100% of an FTE; the incumbent cannot be employed by another organisation concurrently.
