World Athletics is looking for a highly motivated, HR Generalist to join an efficient close-knit HR team of two members responsible for good staff management and staff's well-being.

The role is based at World Athletics' Head Quarters in Monaco, reporting to the HR Director.

World Athletics is the international governing body for the sport of athletics that includes track, field and road events. It includes 6 continental federations and 214 national federations, each a member of World Athletics.

World Athletics organises leading athletics competitions worldwide including a number of World Athletics Series (WAS) events and its flagship, the biennial World Athletics Championships. It also administers One-Day Meeting circuits such as the World Indoor Tour, Continental Tour, Wanda Diamond League and Road Race Label events.

World Athletics is based in Monaco, has a staff of 115 representing 32 different nationalities of all continents. Lord Sebastian Coe was elected as the current World Athletics President in August 2015, reelected in 2019 and in 2023. He has since instigated a period of high-profile organisational transformation and modernisation, as well as wide-spread reforms across the sport globally.

World Athletics' vision is "to use the power and accessibility of athletics and our athletes to create a healthier and fitter world", which gives a true purpose to all people working in the Association. They also aim at developing the whole sport - from playground and parks to Olympic Podiums.


General overview of the position

The main objectives of World Athletics Human Resources Department are to ensure that World Athletics is an organisation where the best talents are attracted, recruited, trained developed, cared for and supported to the highest possible standards. Maintain a working environment where the best in terms of personal and team performance is expected, and everyone is treated with respect, fairness and consistency.

The role's core function is in supporting the staffing plan as needed, develop training plans and to assist in any ad hoc project, admin task and support required for the Department's organisation.


Description of key responsibilities of the position

• Recruitments and effective induction of newcomers

• Liaise with the "Service de l'emploi"

• Manage temping agencies, internships

• Support skills development: Implement, manage and follow up training plan

• Administrative follow up of employees (holidays, contracts, trainings, etc.)

• Participate in defining and implementing Annual Reviews Process

• Assist HR Director in the design and implementation of HR processes

• Update the HR SharePoint

• Contributes to the development of internal communication, populating our social media channels

• Takes part to the development of HR tools, dashboards.

• Conduct searches, surveys in HR from time to time

• Support the Human Resources Department in any HR related issue

• Select external providers, build and maintain working relationships

Regular reporting to Human Resources Director

• Manage any ad hoc project as per Director of Human Resources' request


Skills and experience required

• 6 years' relevant experience minimum in HR ideally in an international organisation/company: (English is required).

• Proven experience in recruitment (national and international, and for a wide variety of positions at all hierarchical levels)

• Knowledge of Monegasque administrative obligations and processes preferred

• Experience in mediation and conflict management

• Proven track record in the drafting of processes and policies. (French / English)

• Experience in change management

• Project management skills

• Proven track experience working with a wide range of stakeholders, across multi-cultural, International boundaries and appreciating cultural differences

• You are a generalist and master all skills and dimensions relating to the position

• Ability to analyse and summarise clearly

• Pro activity and organisational skills

• Team player
